Seeing Comes Before Words
Claire Arkas’s exhibition “Seeing Comes Before Words” brings together paintings and lithographs spanning 22 years of the artist’s practice at Arkas Sanat Alaçatı.
Claire Arkas’s paintings explore how we see rather than what we see. By holding back her own interpretation, the artist creates space for the viewer. Rather than fixing the image within a single meaning, she allows it to shift and take on multiple meanings through the viewer’s gaze.
The exhibition is on view at Arkas Sanat Alaçatı from 15 May to 1 November 2026.
