The permanent exhibition at Arkas Sanat Urla brings together paintings, sculptures, tapestries, armour, helmets and weapons from the Arkas Collection, alongside architectural models and busts. Featuring works from different periods, the exhibition encompasses European painting and sculpture, as well as various fields of art and craftsmanship.
Displayed on the ground floor, the selection of 19th- and 20th-century paintings and sculptures spans the period from academic art to modernism. Post-Impressionism forms the core of the painting selection, while works from different movements reflect changes in artistic approaches to colour, light, form and subject matter. Artists represented include Jean-Léon Gérôme, William-Adolphe Bouguereau, Henri-Edmond Cross and Maurice de Vlaminck, alongside Georges Braque, Francis Picabia and Salvador Dalí.
The sculpture selection features works by Auguste Rodin and Camille Claudel that explore the human body through movement and emotional expression.
Another section of the exhibition presents European armour, helmets and weapons from the 16th and 17th centuries alongside Renaissance tapestries. Marble models of ancient temples and busts of Roman emperors are also on display in this section. Created using a variety of materials and techniques, these objects reflect the artistic and craft traditions, functional purposes and craftsmanship of their respective periods.
